Gear List

Here is a list of the gear I use, both in the studio and live.
You may ask me, "Do you need all this stuff?" Well, yes, yes I do.

Software:

Cubase Studio 4 - This is my host program. I use it for all my midi programming, recording, mixing, editing.

Native Instruments Battery 2 - An amazing sample based drum program

SonicCharge uTonic - A great program for electronic style beats. No realistic drum sounds here, just straight up synthesized drum sounds

Spectrasonics Atmosphere - This is an older program that I will eventually upgrade to the newer Omnisphere. I use this for my atmospheric strings, pads, background soundscape type sounds.

Korg Legacy Collection Analog Edition - Remakes of the classic MS-20, Polysix and MonoPoly synths by Korg from the 80's as well as their Legacy cell. With the 3 synths included this is one of the best investments I've made as far as software goes. These are amazing virtual analog instruments.

EastWest Bosendorfer 290 PMI - I used to use this program a lot more before I moved my piano into my recording space. It's a very good sampled piano, but I mostly use my upright now instead.

Native Instruments: Akoustik Piano, Elektrik Piano, B4 II, and Pro 53 - Of all of these, I mostly use Pro-53. I don't usually use organs, but B4 II is a good one to have on hand just in case. I pretty much never use Akoustik Piano because I have my upright, and as far as software goes, EastWest's piano is better. I don't really use Elektrik Piano anymore either because I bought a Rhodes after I bought this program. I bought all 4 as a pack, so I keep 'em around even though I don't use them much.

Software Effects:

Smartelectronix Ambience Reverb - Although this is a free or donation only plug-in, I pretty much use it as my staple reverb. I love it.

Camel Audio Camel Phat and Camel Crusher - I used Camel Crusher, the free Camel Audio distortion/compressor on almost every single loop I made for years. About 6 months ago I bought Camel Phat and it's made it onto every single loop I've made since. Now I need to buy Camel Space.

Cubase 4 Effects - The onboard effects that come with Cubase are great. There is a wide range of the standards and they are all top quality.

Hardware:

Fender Rhodes MK-I Seventy Three - Man I love this thing. I've owned my own Rhodes for about 3 years now, and there is nothing like a real Rhodes. Emulations are nice, but nothing compares to playing a real MK-I Rhodes.

Yamaha CP-70B - If you don't know what this is, look it up. This is one of the coolest instruments ever! This is one of the earliest "portable" piano's. Portable meaning a real piano that breaks into 2 pieces and weighs a combined 3oo lbs. I used to haul my Rhodes back and forth to church by myself, it weighs about 120ish lbs. When I got my CP-70 I decided to leave it at church and the Rhodes at home, so the CP-70 is my main piano that I use on Sunday's.

Heintzman Upright Piano (1902) - This is the upright I learned to play piano on. When my wife and I bought our first house my mom let me take it with me. I put it in my studio space and now I never use my software pianos. This thing sounds old and beautiful.

Moog Little Phatty Stage I - My little monster. I use this for rad effects and harsh analog gritty sounds. This synth sings like a bird or growls like a tiger. I love it. When we don't have a bass player, I just play bass with my LP and that way I can play piano and bass at the same time.

Sequential Circuits Prophet 600 - I haven't had this one long, I sold my Roland Juno 106 to get it. It had some tuning issues and about half of the keys were misfiring, so it's in the shop right now. Hopefully I get her back soon, I miss her.

M-Audio Radium 61 - USB/Midi controller for my software synths. It's older, but it works great.

Peavey Windsor - Don't be turned off by the Peavey part. This Class-A amp sounds amazing! I use it mostly for my Rhodes, but my guitar sounds great through it as well.

Ibanez Jet King - My electric guitar. It's beautiful.

Epiphone Thunderbird IV Bass - Besides piano and synth's, bass is my other musical love. I played bass in bands for years, and I miss playing. Since going hardcore on the synth's in church, I think I've only played bass once.

iPod Classic - I use this for triggering all my loops. I pan all my drums left and my synths right, that way the sound guy can have separate control of eq's and monitor mixes.

Hardware Effects:

Line 6 M13 - This is the best (in my opinion) multi effects pedal ever made. Best bang for your buck.

Line 6 Echo Park - Delay Pedal

Line 6 Verbzilla - Reverb pedal

Danelectro Tuna Melt Tremolo - Tremolo Pedal mostly used for my Rhodes

Microphones:

(2) Audio Technica 4033a - I use these for overheads, acoustic guitars, piano, violin. They are great all around stereo recording mics.

Shure SM57 - Every studio needs at least one.

Studio Projects C1 - It's not the best vocal mic in the world, but it works well and it's what I can afford.

Pre-amps:

Studio Projects VTB-1 - Tube preamp for vocals

Presonus Firepod - 8 input Firewire preamp

Computer:

Apple G5 PowerMac 2.3 ghz 16 GB Ram (That's right, 16)
